Principal UX Designer

Greater Boston, MA
Our client is ready to hire on a full time/permanent basis a master of the craft of interface design — to bring demonstrable design leadership and expertise to our product development practice in areas such as our Electronic Health Records (EHR) platform, Search Optimization, Analytics and other product development.

You’re over the “Big Design Up Front” mindset and have experienced the success of Agile approaches with iterative design. Communication and collaboration are the keys to success. You are a leader and elevate the performance of the teams you participate on.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Requirements:
  • A degree in Human Computer Interaction, product design, or a relevant field
  • 8-10 years’ experience in UX design, or demonstrate that years of experience are relevant
  • Excel at being a storyteller — delivering insights about people and behavior, verbally, in writing and visually — in a way that generates empathy, emotion, and engagement from the client and design team
  • Embrace and employ both current and emerging UI best practices in all design deliverables
  • Manage multiple priorities and understand that constructive feedback is meant to come from a positive place
  • Passionate and enthusiastic about excellence and attention to detail
  • Strong influencing, negotiation and communication skills (written, verbal, presentation)
  • Achieved fluency in your design tools of choice, but continue to experiment with new tools in order to continuously improve
  • Success within an integrated design process with a software development team
  • Strong, demonstrable portfolio of recent and relevant work
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Employ conceptual thinking to create world-class digital products and services across platforms, reconciling user needs, business goals and technical realities
  • Work directly with clients to design end-to-end experiences using participatory and iterative design techniques such as observational studies, customer interviews, usability testing, and other qualitative and quantitative research techniques to uncover insights, learn about user behavior and verify design concepts
  • Develop sound UX concepts, including the definition of customer needs, task analysis, and the creation of personas, storyboards, scenarios, user flows and use cases
  • Translate concepts into designs that illustrate simplicity despite conceptual complexity
  • Lead multi-day design sprints and collaborative workshops with multiple participants across project and client teams
  • Effectively communicate research findings, workshop outputs, conceptual ideas, detailed design, and design rationale both verbally and visually
  • Create instant tangibility for the project team (including customers) through storytelling and rapid prototyping, from paper sketches to digital prototypes
  • Define UI through information architecture, wireframes and user flows and validate with usability testing
  • Embrace Lean UX and Agile methodologies
  • Partner closely with Product Owners, SCRUM Masters, and Software Engineering teammates to ensure that design specifications are implemented
